Tastes are always changing in the collector car hobby. As one model grows in desirability and value, another may drop back. But certain cars will almost always make hearts beat faster. The action at Hemmings.com in 2023 made one thing abundantly clear: You folks sure love your Corvettes!

Collectible since almost the day the first one rolled off the assembly line in 1953, less prone to rust with their fiberglass bodies and an absolute icon of American performance, the Corvette remains a solid and steady collector car. Between Hemmings Auctions and Hemmings Make Offer, we have helped find buyers for Corvettes from each of its eight distinct generations, from highly original 1954 models right up to and including the latest mid-engined C8 supercar.

Below are the top 10 Corvette sales on Hemmings.com in 2023.

If you’re in the market for a Corvette of any generation, head on over to Hemmings.com’s Corvettes for sale page.

1. 1966 Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray Coupe $155,400

Among the most highly prized Corvettes are those from the second generation, a.k.a. “mid-year,” a.k.a. “C2.” Want to tick all the boxes that get sellers excited? Make that a C2 from its original owner with its original 427 big-block V8, a four-speed manual and low miles. This 1966 Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray Coupe was exactly such a car, resulting in 35 bids (14 of which extended the auction), more than 32,000 views of the listing, and a rock-solid sale price well above the average rate for the typical ’67 L36 Sting Ray coupe. Then again, this example was hardly typical.

2. 1967 Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray Convertible $120,750

Sold as a direct Make Offer listing, this second-gen 1967 Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray Convertible featured a non-original 427-cu.in. V8, Powerglide two-speed automatic and factory air, the latter converted to R134a, an uncommon but pleasant feature on a 1960s convertible. The seller noted that he was the second owner, having purchased it from the original owner’s son upon that first purchaser’s passing. Surely the black-painted stinger hood scoop against the overall silver pearl paint had something to do with the nearly 19,000 views and 16 offers the car received.

3. 1955 Chevrolet Corvette $112,350

The 1955 model year featured the one big change that kept the slow-selling Corvette in the showroom and headed for legend status: Chevrolet’s small-block V8. This 1955 Chevrolet Corvette was believed to be one of just 45 finished in Pennant Blue, out of just 700 Corvettes produced at GM’s St. Louis Assembly plant for the entire model year, the second lowest production year after the 1953 debut of the Vette.

4. 1962 Chevrolet Corvette $99,750

For the final year of the first-generation model, the top-spec Vette was powered by the Rochester fuel-injected 327-cu.in. small-block V8 engine and this 1962 Chevrolet Corvette was believed to be carrying its original 327 “fuelie” under its hood. The recipient of a complete restoration, which included a respray of its original Roman Red finish (with modern two-stage paint), this Corvette found a buyer via a post-auction Make Offer listing. Overall, the listing was viewed more than 25,000 times, yet another testament to Hemming.com’s readers appetite for all things Corvette.

5. 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray 70th Anniversary Convertible $96,600

Clearly, affection for Corvettes is not limited to classic models as this 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Convertible 70th Anniversary Edition also proved a hit with bidders. Packed with modern technology, an astoundingly powerful LT2 6.2-liter OHV V8, and a slew of comfort and performance features including heated seats and a 14-speaker sound system along with massive disc brakes stuffed inside forged aluminum wheels, this C8 drop top might very well be the ultimate American exotic convertible.

6. 1967 Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray Coupe $94,500

With more than 27,000 views, this mid-year Vette proves that big-block fans needn’t have all the fun. This very clean 1967 Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray Coupe featured its numbers-matching L79 350-horsepower, 327-cu.in. small-block V8 (with photos of the engine stamping for proof) that delivered power to the rear wheels via a Muncie four-speed manual. With a net sale price that exceeded its reserve by 35%, this mid-year Sting Ray proved to be a winner.

7. 1966 Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray Coupe $90,825

What’s this? Another photo-verified, numbers-matching, 350-horsepower, 327-cu.in. L79 V8-powered C2 Corvette Coupe on the list? It sure is! This Ermine White 1966 Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray Coupe was listed as having been in the same family from new and also the recent recipient of a restoration so thorough, it garnered an NCRS Top Flight award, scoring 98.4 points when it was judged in 2021. Its presentation was enough to merit a net sale price 15% better than the reserve and toward the high end of the recent market for such coupes.

8. 1957 Chevrolet Corvette $86,625

For 1957, Corvette buyers had two high-performance engine options over the base 283, with both fuel injection and a dual-quad setup available, the latter chosen for this 1957 Chevrolet Corvette. This example, finished in Arctic Blue with Beige coves, was noted as having received a body-off restoration that was completed in 2009, along with a mechanical redo from 2016. It appeared to be in excellent condition throughout as even the engine bay and undercarriage presented as nearly spotless, to go along with the body and interior.

9. 1959 Chevrolet Corvette $84,000

Equipped with a solid-cam, dual-four-barrel 283-cu.in. V8, this Tuxedo Black with Inca Silver 1959 Chevrolet Corvette was listed as having been restored in the mid-1990s. An NCRS Top Flight award followed in 1995. With no additional restoration work indicated, this Corvette appeared to have been maintained very well in the meantime, having been in the seller’s hands since 2001. It took furious bidding by several parties the final day of the auction for a vehicle whose net sale price exceeded reserve by 39%.

10. 1962 Chevrolet Corvette $78,750

Like number four above on this list, this 1962 Chevrolet Corvette featured a restoration with a Roman Red finish and a fuel-injected 327-cu.in. small-block V8 under the hood. One big difference among the cars would be this example’s Fawn vinyl interior and lack of the optional removable hardtop. Still, bidders responded by making a solid offer post-auction as a Make Offer listing that the seller found amenable and was still well within the going market rate for a ’62 Corvette “Fuelie.”
