There are two kinds of collectibles in almost every Super Mario Odyssey kingdom: power moons and coins. In this guide, we’ll show you where to find the Cloud Kingdom’s power moons. (There aren’t any coins.)

  1. Picture Match: Basically a Goomba
  2. Peach in the Cloud Kingdom
  3. Digging in the… Cloud?
  4. High, High Above the Clouds
  5. Crossing the Cloud Sea
  6. Taking Notes: Up and Down
  7. Picture Match: A Stellar Goomba!
  8. King of the Cube!
  9. The Sixth Face

Power moons 1 and 2 are available after you defeat Bowser at the end of the campaign. Power moons 3-9 are available after you beat Bowser for the final time and smash the moon rock in this level.

Our power moons guide puts the collectibles in the same order as Super Mario Odyssey.

Check out the gallery above to see which pieces you need to move and where you need to place them. (The images are technically from the second version of this puzzle, but the pieces and positions remain the same.)

2. Peach in the Cloud Kingdom

Veer northeast on the main platform and speak to Princess Peach to get this power moon.

The following moons are available after you defeat Bowser for the final time and break the power moon pictured above.

3. Digging in the… Cloud?

A bit southeast of the center of the central platform, you’ll see a marker for this power moon. Walk to it, and ground pound to unveil it.

4. High, High Above the Clouds

Off the western edge of the central platform, you’ll find a smaller platform. Use Cappy to make your way there, and then ground pound to raise the final platform. Your goal is to throw Cappy to make cloud platforms appear and make your way to the power moon.

The trick here is to put the camera behind Mario’s back, so that you’re always throwing Cappy straight ahead and jumping straight ahead. It’s much easier to throw straight than at an angle. The same goes for judging distances as you jump forward, too. You can see us do just that in the video above.

5. Crossing the Cloud Sea

Underneath where you broke the moon rock, you’ll find a keyhole block in the ground. You’ll need to platform your way across small clouds, facing away from the central platform. The hardest part (aside from the jumping) is triggering the clouds with Cappy. The trick? Twitch your controller, so that Cappy flies to the nearest target. Even if your aim is off, he’ll find it.

6. Taking Notes: Up and Down

Off the eastern edge of the central platform, you’ll find a smaller platform. Use Cappy to make your way there, and then ground pound to raise the final platform. Your goal is to jump and the treble clef, and use Cappy to collect all of the musical notes that then appear.

The easiest way we found to collect them all is to … well, not worry about how many trips it takes you. You’ll be able to ground pound the platform at least three times while the timer counts down. Just turn in the direction of the notes and aim for one or two groups of notes each time.

Also note that the notes are all lined up in generally cardinal directions, — north, south, west and east. Use the icon on the platform to orient yourself and Cappy for the next throw, and don’t forget to wiggle your controller to make Cappy fly in more than a straight line away from Mario if you don’t line up quite right.

This is a more difficult version of the previous picture match because it requires a score of 90 or better. Check out the gallery above to see which pieces you need to move and rotate and where you need to place them.

Update: Thanks to Polygon reader Justin, who pointed out that our original screenshots got the eyes wrong. In short, the little white dots in the goomba’s iris should be at the top of the black circle they’re within. It’s kind of hard to describe, so we added arrows to the corrected images in the gallery above to make it clearer.

8. King of the Cube! and 9. The Sixth Face

For the first, you’ll need to collect five power moon pieces, and there’s one in each of the five sides of the cube that 2-D Mario runs through. Don’t try anything clever, and you’ll literally walk through them. To get power moon 9, you’ll need to hit two hidden blocks in the room with the lava and travel through a green pipe. Check out the video above to see it all in action.
