Figuring out the best place to put your money is overwhelming, to say the least. 🤔A FHSA isn't necessarily a substitute for an HBP or TFSA — it's another option. This new account is for people saving up to buy their first home. It complements other accounts to give you:✅More tax benefits✅More room to contribute✅More opportunity for your money to grow tax-free.A FHSA combines the good parts of other accounts to offer you a fresh and improved way to save for your first home.If you’re looking to buy your first home in the next 15 years, the time to start investing in your FHSA is now! *It is taxable if you do not pay back the withdrawal. #TFSA #ProtectYourFuture #WealthBuilding #WealthManagement #FHSA

Several of our clients have filed claims for the ERTC, many with our assistance.Without going into all of the rules, qualification for ERTC generally hinges on revenue in 2020 and 2021 being down quite a bit from the base year of 2019.I know it's hard to believe, but between the time Congress passed various COVID-related laws (PPP, ERTC, etc.) and the rules were developed, billions of dollars flowed out of Washington. You have all seen the TV ads, received flyers and phone calls, and heard stories on the street corner, about the “easy” ERTC money, up to “$26,000 per employee”.IRS has placed a moratorium on legitimate ERTC claims while it cleans up the program. They recently sent out 20,000 letters denying claims, and will be sending more. They are actively trying to get money back.Just another example of a well-run government program. Here is an article from our website regarding the ERTC program and issues. https://lnkd.in/gNfAZKbg | 616-456-5530#taxplanning #businessadvisors #CPAadvice

Better FAFSA Buzz 🐝There are several new terms on the FAFSA, including "contributors." A contributor is anyone who has to provide "consent and approval" on the FAFSA.- The student is always a contributor!- If a student is dependent and their parents are married and file a joint tax return, information for both parents is required, but only one parent is required to be a contributor.- If parents are married but file separate tax returns or live together and aren't married, both parents are considered contributors. All contributors will need their own FSA ID.For more information and to get ready to file the FAFSA, visit FAMEmaine.com/FAFSA

If there is a second H-1B cap lottery, then in theory it could occur in July because all the initial lottery winner cases need to have been filed by 6/30. So now USCIS can assess how many of the initial winners (110,791) actually filed. But remember the cap is only 85k so there was already a plan to anticipate some cases not going forward or being denied. As a practical matter, people (and employers) need to make other plans. But IF there is a second lottery, it COULD be later this month - July 2023 for FY2024 lottery (people who already registered in March 2023). •••
