Hi, My period was due 3 days ago but hasn’t arrived, I have however had lower back pains and felt a bit twingy. I did a pregnancy test yesterday and this morning and both were negative. I’ve been looking at lot online about this and some people have said to try another test in a few days as the test may not be detecting the hcg in my urine but do u think I would need to go and see my doctor due to my period not starting? I’m just worried it may be some underlying problem. My periods prior to this were normal at 27/27 days. We have been trying for a baby for the past 3 months. Just need a little advice.

Hi!
I was 4 days late this morning and all my tests have been negative until today! I got a BFP!
so keep testing. I've been using FRER tests x

It's impossible to know if you're late unless you know when you ovulated and how long your luteal phase is (the period of time between ovulation and your period starting).
It's very possible that you ovulated later then usual so your expected period date will be later than usual. If you are pregnant then it's also very possible that you could have implanted late and therefore your HCG levels are still quite low so you're still showing as a BFN.
I wouldn't contact your GP, 3 days isn't very late. I think GPs normally get involved once your period has been missing for at least 60 days or so.
You're definitely not out until your period arrives so keep testing if you want to as they could turn into a BFP like the PP's did. Fingers crossed for you that it does!

I’ve been using an ovulating app called glow so I can track when I’m ovulating, I also log my periods on it, I did this for my first little one and he’s 20 months now :) thank you, will not contact doc then and wait a little while longer, I will test again in a few days and see how I go and if worse comes to worse will keep trying @JTB123 congratulations lovely news!

For a minute there I thought I'd written this in my sleep! Also late and usually have a v regular 28 day cycle, am on day 36 now so 12 days late but all negatives so far- been using an app too and it's been spot on! Will keep testing every day or so but going to try and not get obsessive! Good luck!
Curiosity101 · 23/07/2020 13:19
The apps are only estimates which is why they can be completely wrong in some cycles. Even regular people sometimes have an odd/unpredictable cycle so I would probably just chalk this up to the estimated ovulation date being wrong, and you probably just ovulated late this month.
Good luck with everything
Pumpkinangel · 23/07/2020 13:27
@Titianatit*ling yes I’m the same I don’t want to get over obsessed too but it’s so hard not to isn’t hair. I will try another test in a few days and I’f nothing we will keep trying. I may buy some ovulation strips to test as not tried those

Literally could of written your post myself! I'm 12 days late and the bfn's just keep coming. It's driving me insane now. I've had next to no symptoms apart from very light cramping and a few days ago my breasts started feeling a bit tender. I have my fingers crossed for us all getting bfps soon.
Quercus3 · 23/07/2020 14:51
The only time my period has ever been late is when I was paying particular attention to it because I thought I might be pregnant. All tests were negative.
I wonder how much of it is down to our brains, and our bodies being all 'a watched pot never boils'. So frustrating. I hope you get your BFP in a few days OP!
Titianatit*ling · 23/07/2020 21:40
Unfortunately l think I've jinxed it as just come back from a pre bed walk and seem to have come on, but as it's a bit lighter than usual my daft brain has me thinking 'oh it's an implantation bleed'...?
Stayinghopeful92x · 23/07/2020 22:07
Yeah same boat over here 🙋♀️ 7 days late now and getting fed up gave up testing and have just put it down to being stressed this month hopefully comes soon so we can get back to ttc
Pumpkinangel · 23/07/2020 22:18
@Titianatit*ling yes it could be implantation bleeding, I’ve done a test this evening a few hits ago and it was negative but weirdly I looked at the test just before bed and there is the faintest line ever showing so I’m not going to get too excited but will try again Saturday. Sending u some good vibes
Titianatit*ling · 23/07/2020 22:44
Same to you! Am going to try and hold off till then as well, unless there's obvious other signs of course!
Allittc · 23/07/2020 22:58
I’m glad to have found a recent chain here as I’m feeling pretty lonely. My husband can only understand so much and none of my friends are currently TTC. This was 10th month for me TTC, did my 1st IUI on cycle day 14. Had a very short bleed on day 21 (I was hoping implantation). I tested this morning on day 29 and got BFN. I was gutted. I got my hopes up as I’m usually never late, typically get it before TWW is over. Has anyone had an experience where Letrizole and trigger shot extended you cycle? AF still missing.

Just something to be aware of..my period was two weeks late I did have a positive test but when I tested at the drs it was negative and that’s because it was a chemical pregnancy. I really hope it’s not that and your hormones are just a little slower at adjusting and you get your BFp.
Allittc · 25/07/2020 00:55
Period came 2 days late. Oh well thankful to not be in limbo and back on cycle day 1! Positive vibes!
Pumpkinangel · 26/07/2020 12:17
Update: I did another test (cheap one) yesterday and was faint line then I did another this morn first thing and was negative, I just had a gut feeling I was pregnant so didn’t want to give up. I’ve just been out and bought a digital week test and I’m so shocked... I am pregnant 1-2 weeks!! I think I’m only a week pregnant and that’s why my hcg wasn’t showing on the cheap tests. I’ve got my fingers crossed for u all ladies, I was 7 days late today x

Congratulations 🥳
Quercus3 · 26/07/2020 12:37
Wahoo! Congrats xx
Pumpkinangel · 26/07/2020 12:41
@oncebitten25 thank you 😊 I was all geared up for it to say not pregnant so I am over the moon. Hubby is out at the mo and knew I was a little bummed out last night due to all the negative tests ( I did 6 in total (over 6 days) and 1 digital today) I was worried I wouldn’t be able to conceive as well this time round due to having a small prolapse with my first DS who is now 20 months. I’m sending lots of positive vibes to all of u on the thread

Update: hmm I’m a little concerned as I’ve just been to the loo and I had a little light blood, I don’t know if implantation bleeding or now, it’s lighter than normal period but now I’m panicking :( I’ve read implantation bleeding lasts only 2 days so not sure if should wait and see how I go before calling doctors. I didn’t have any bleeding with first DS. Period was due last Tuesday and I did the positive digital test Sunday. Should I be worried? X

Curiosity101 · 29/07/2020 19:14
It's unlikely to be implantation bleeding at this point, but there are lots and lots of people that have light bleeding in early pregnancy and go on to have perfectly normal and healthy pregnancies.
I totally understand your worry (I had a lot of bleeding in my pregnancy), but as much as you can, try not to worry. A little bit of blood could mean anything or nothing. Personally I wouldn't call a doctor unless it was very heavy or I had other symptoms that were worrying me (such as pain etc), but you absolutely need to do what's right for you.
Good luck with everything, hopefully it stops and you continue on to a happy, healthy and uneventful 9 months.
Pumpkinangel · 29/07/2020 19:29
@Curiosity101 thank you for your reply It has made me feel a little better, yes I will try and keep calm and see how I go. I booked my midwife appt on Monday which is in middle of August. Fingers crossed all goes ok 👌

Hmm I’m pretty sure I’ve had a chemical pregnancy :( bled a lot today and had cramps. Did a digital test which confirmed I am no longer pregnant. Feeling pretty rubbish tbh but trying to stay positive and just look ahead and try try again in the next few months x

I'm really sorry to hear that 😔. TTC can be so cruel sometimes.
Wishing you luck and baby dust for the future.
