This is in many ways a really stupid and irritating post because I know the only answer is "wait and see", but I am finding it REALLY hard to wait and see, and have spent about £400 on pregnancy tests this month (all of which have been negative).

I had my IUD removed on the 20th May and have had two periods since then, which seemed to be regular. This month I had serious period-style pain about a week before my period was due, then again this weekend (when it actually WAS due)... But I did a test today and it was negative. Since they claim to be 99% accurate, does this mean that it's more likely that I am just not as regular as I thought I was, or is it still possible to be pregnant (wishful think, wishful think)?!

Me too!!! (Although it's not strictly late as my cycle varies, but it's now 2 days longer than the longest it's been for the last 2 years).
I've been going C-R-A-Z-Y last two days but didn't want to annoy everyone by moaning about it too much! So am v happy to have found friends in same position!
I've been charting for last 2 months and FF reckons I only ov'd 9 days ago (CD20), so still early by pg test standards so not surprised to get BFN. No idea how that compares to ov-ing previously as don't have enough info. My cycles are usually around 24 days, so ov-ing on day 20 is v late - so it's probably just a freak long cycle. But it's driving me mad!! Rant over... and breathe... Period late, pregnancy test negative... | Mumsnet (1)

BTW - £400 on pregnancy tests???? Seriously?? (Or was that a typo and you meant £40?!) Have you tried getting the cheap ones off Amazon? That's what I've got.

Lancy actually my situation is probably more like yours, I've only been counting my cycle length for about 6 months so it's probably natural variance. And I have no idea when I ovulate/d.

And the chance is even less because actually my partner isn't ready yet so we haven't been trying as such, but using the withdrawal method. I am more than ready so have just been hoping that famously falliable method would... fail.

I just want AF to come now and end this speculation!

Flowerface · 19/07/2011 19:05

No, sorry Lancy I was just exaggerating for comic effect. I haven't done THAT many. But still too many. I have decided to wait til Friday and then do another.

The thing is, I am kidding myself that I am experiencing many of the same symptoms as early in my pregnancy with DD. But I am probably just convincing myself of this... I have no idea when I ovulate or anything like that and am generally quite clueless about the whole thing... As is probably obvious!

I hope you get a BFP but unfortunately I was in the same boat last month and AF appeared on day 59 :(

I am a bit of a novice when it comes to this topic... What do BFP and AF stand for?! (I mean, I guess I can work out what they mean, but just interested...)

Sorry to hear that you were disappointed Lala and Pjani. Still no developments here...

Bfp = big fat positive
Af = aunt flo aka period
Any news flowerface? (Being nosy!)

Flowerface · 20/07/2011 12:04

Aunt Flo! That's a new one on me!

No, no news. I may test again on Friday, and then go to the doc if still negative, to see where my missing period might be...

Sorry to hear that pjani - hope you persuade your partner soon. My DH only came round to the idea a couple of months ago after I made him realise that time is running out (I'm 37 next week)!

Flowerface - I was a novice a month ago too. It's amazing how much you can learn in a short space of time. Try signing up to www.fertilityfriend.com and take their free email course on TTC (trying to conceive). And you can find all the Acronyms used on MN here: www.mumsnet.com/info/acronyms

No news here either. Have decided to wait until Saturday before testing again. I'm on CD30 today. The longest it's ever been in the last few years is 28. Longest ever in my whole life is 34 - that was 15 years ago!
(Yes, I'm that sad, I've been tracking my cycle length my whole life - I started when I was teenager cos I hoped my periods would get more regular as I got older, so I tracked the length to see, but they never did... and now it comes to the point when it really matters and that info still isn't helping me!!)

Lalabuloo - 59 days?! Blimey. Had you had anything that long before? Was there a reason for it? e.g. chemical mc? I wonder if there's a small possibility I may have had a chemical mc last month (AF was v early, heavier and longer than usual) so could have thrown my cycle out.

Thanks for listening ladies! Flowerface - keep us posted...

Turns out I couldn't wait, just tested again, still neg. It's a real mystery. I used to be regular but I only had my IUD out on the 20th May so maybe it's too early to say?

The worst thing is that I feel SO PMTish that if something doesn't happen soon I think DH will give up and run away!

Lancylass, thank you for the acronyms link, it was very useful. I tried to figure out what they meant and sometimes I was right, sometimes wrong. It's great to have an answer.

Lancy I think stress delayed ovulation, I had an op in May so I think my body just couldn't recover and ovulate, so it didn't bother!

Mine is clearly just weirdo cycle too. I don't think two pregancy tests the week after would be wrong! Oh well, there's always next month (if this month ever ends!!)

i tested negative for an entire week after missing period with both y dds.... might be worth waiting? i also had period pains and was confused!

I guess I can't really do anything but wait! I have had period pain too. The whole thing is weird. And apart from really wanting to get pregnant, the worst thing was that I felt psychopathic with the PMT. I really thought DH was the most enraging man ever. But I feel a bit less insane today, thank goodness!

Hello Im new here.

Im 23 partner is 39 and we have been TTC #1 for a few months and this month I am 7 days late :) Im always regular.

Ive had about 10 BFN (im so impatient) im hoping that next week ill get my BFP. I am shocked my the amount of people who have had BFN for a while before their BFP so I am holding on to hope.

If AF arrives I will be crushed.

Im glad I looked at mumsnet as you all seem very nice :)

Hi mercury!!

I am fed up with getting my hopes up and weeing on sticks so I am just going to wait and see what happens! My Mum keeps going on about how I am making too much of a big deal of it and should just relax, but she also boasts about her own legendary fertility so it's alright for her. And I think she also slightly doesn't understand how much sex one tends to have when one has a super-energetic 19 month old (in our case, not much!!) so some kind of strategy is kind of necessary to conserve our strength!

Anyway, I am just waiting to see and will drink copious wine this weekend in the assumption that I am not PG since I am SURE I am not. But there is a stubborn glimmer of hope...

Hope you get lucky - let us know!!

I know how you feel about weeing on sticks. I keep thinking every morning maybe it will tell me different today.

This is the worst wait in the world, I hate waiting for anything. I cant concentrate on anything. Im going nuts.

Good Luck to you too :)

I had period pain from the day I was due to 5 days late. I did a test to rule pregnancy out and the baby is now ten and just came in and asked for a cuddle and told me he loves me

Don't give up hope yet!
